Devlog #5 - Testing Session Feedback

DEVLOG #5: Testing Session Feedback

Well, here we are. Going into the final week of the project. No preamble this time, let's get right into it.

First and foremost, a big thank you to everyone who filled out the testing feedback survey. If you haven't done so yet, feel free to do so here. Note that testing was performed on a early build, and some features were incomplete or absent.

The first question was about what the testers enjoyed.

It's good to see that both the Artstyle and the Gameplay are both functioning as expected. It's also nice to see that the music was also a highlight. While not a feature of the game, it's also nice that people enjoyed winning, as that always feel good.

Next was regarding anything that the testers didn't enjoy about the game.

While I think that the comment regarding the smooth jazz might have been entered here by accident, All the other feedback for this section is definitely something that warrants being looked into, especially regarding money falling into negative numbers, clearing of the board, and the overall difficulty of the game (or in this case, lack thereof.)

Third, the testers were asked to report any bugs they found.

Luckily, the majority of bugs had been ironed out prior to the testing sessions, and no extra bugs presented themselves. Some existing bugs managed to slip through, however, such as overlapping text and being able to add more money than available to a bet.

And finally, the testers were asked what extra features or improvements could add to the game.

Lots of good suggestions here, such as animating the slot machine, lowering the music volume, and a visual representation of cards and slots. Other suggestions are good, but unfortunately aren't feasible with the time remaining, including simulating a card deck, or more game modes.

While tweaks to the logic are currently ongoing, I'm hoping that the final version will be closer to the pattern described above.

And last but not least, an All-In button would be a perfect addition to the game. In addition, aside from the art assets that would need to be created, such an addition would be relatively easy to make.

And that wraps up the testing session. Once again, thanks to everyone who participated and left feedback, and see you in the next devlog.
